James Harris Bliss was the last member of the Bliss Family to be born in the Big Bliss House located on the corner of Bliss and Merrill Roads in Sugar Grove.
In 1891, Harry (as he was called in a newspaper article) moved the Bliss House across the road to build the 17-room house that now sits on the northwest corer of Bliss and Merrill Roads in Sugar Grove, Illinois.
Peleg Young Bliss was one of the earliest settlers and businessmen in Sugar Grove. He was born in 1806 in Vermont and passed away in Sugar Grove in 1888 at the age of 82.
