Description

1946 E&J Mechanical Resuscitator with Inhalator and Aspirator.

Released by E&J on April 1st, 1946

E&J - Erickson & Johnstone - Invented the mechanical regulator for these devices. Top of the line in their time, every prosperous citizen and community group purchased one of these machines for their local Volunteer firemen, first aid or rescue squad, ambulance service or boating club. They were used to save a lot of lives; and in a time where equipment on ambulances was sparse, this was a diamond to be had!

This is a positive pressure, mechanical resuscitator. The machine does the breathing for the patient. How it works is, when the resuscitator is applied, the oxygen simply flows. When resistance is met, a relief valve kicks, and the patient is able to exhale. Then the process starts all over again.
