SUGAR GROVE NATIVE DIES AT AGE 84
Ben G. McCannon, a farmer in the Sugar Grove areas for more than 60 years, died Wednesday at Apollo Medical Center, St. Petersburg, Florida. He was 84 years old.
Mr. McCannon was instrumental in the establishment of the Sugar Grove Community House. He was a member of the Kane County Farm Bureau and the Sugar Grove Farmers Club. He was living in St. Petersburg at the time of his death.
Mr. McCannon was born Sept. 9, 1886, in Sugar Grove.
Surviving are his widow, Edith; four sons, Frank and Dr. Willis of Sugar Grove, John of San Antonio, Texas, and Ben Jr. of Calabasas, California; one daughter, Miss Nellie McCannon of Madison, Wisconsin; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Maude Converse of Sandwich and Mrs. Nellie Szenner of Aurora.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Bena, and by one son and four sisters.
Funeral services will be at 3p.m. Saturday at the Healy Chapel. Burial will be in Jericho Cemetery. Friends may call at the Chapel after 6 p.m. Friday.
