SPOTLIGHT
Did you know that the former president is now a pitcher for the Legion baseball team?
That is - the former president of his sophomore class, Mick McCannon is the pitcher for the Legion team during the summer months. Now a senior at Kaneland, seventeen year old Mick has been busily preparing for his future.
He has belonged to the Latin Club and has had the honor of being chosen to go to Boys State in Springfield. In addition to school work and social functions, Mike also holds down a part time job at Mike's Standard Service Station in Sugar Grove where he is an attendant.
Like all boys he likes to have plenty of time to sleep and equally long time to enjoy his favorite food, sirloin steak.
In his spare time, Mike can be found swimming or playing basketball, not to mention his numerous rides from Sugar Grove to Maple Park.
Along with the things he enjoys, Mick also has a pet peeve. It is that Sunday driver who hurries and pulls out in front of you, only to turn off at the next corner.
After graduating from Kaneland, Mick plans on joining the service with the hope of being trained as a jet pilot.
